The Academy for Positive Learning is dedicated to providing a positive educational environment,
focusing on the development of each child within a supportive community of teachers, parents, staff, peers
and administrators. The Academy’s curriculum affords opportunities and challenges designed to stimulate
and motivate each child’s attitude toward interactive learning. As such, we propose integrating the efforts
of the parents and the community to help every child succeed in school. We maximize academic success
by matching and individualizing instructional strategies to the students' intelligence.
The Academy will offer students the opportunity to engage in an interactive, multi-intelligence, multi-age learning environment. We are committed to academic excellence using leadership, cooperation, community involvement, sportsmanship, and character development. The learning environment will include knowledge-based instruction that is supplemented by: developing cognitive skills that promote intelligent behavior; acquiring/enhancing sensory, motor, and emotional skills; focusing on character education; cultivating/expanding life skills to facilitate independence; attaining a sense of security and achievement; recruiting parents, family members, or designated individuals; forming partnerships with community businesses; instituting a mentor program; and establishing a school-wide child advocate program.
We are currently in the process of locating and constructing a showcase green school that will seek LEED platinum certification. Our children will be educated in the fundamentals of preserving and safeguarding our environment.
